3. KEYWORD PORTFOLIO
Two of the most important aspects of any Search campaign are keyword analysis and keyword recommendation. It is important to follow a proven keyword methodology and the science behind best practice keyword identification
Keyword Focus
In order to promote a website we need to create a list of keywords relevant to what you want to be found for. It could be that you want potential customers to read more about your particular product or service, or you want them to submit a question or a quote, or to join your mailing list. There are many options. Some questions to ask are:
- Overall, what areas of your business would you like to promote?
- What areas of the website are most valuable to you?
- What action do you want visitors to take once they arrive at the website?
Keyword Methodology
From this keyword input we follow the following methodology:
- Analysis of the existing website (if applicable) in detail and extrapolation of lists of relevant keywords.
- Analysis of key competitor’s websites to identify their top keywords based on relevance.
- We reference Google, Yahoo and other major search engines on what relevant keywords search engine users most often use.
- Analysis of any available (current and historic) web traffic statistics to extrapolate lists of relevant and other high-traffic volume keywords.
From all of the above we tabulate the data and create a list of keywords. The list contains a number of varied, yet highly targeted keywords, which can be used across the entire website in all areas of Search.
4. META TAG OPTIMISATION
One of the most important aspects of any Search campaign are the keywords used across and within the site, especially in the site’s Meta Tags. Meta Tags are HTML tags which provide information that describes the content of the web pages a user will be viewing. Search engines use these Meta Tags as part of their indexing formula. We base our recommendations for your Meta Tags on our proven keyword analysis methodology.
Your report will be categorised into three areas:
1. Title Tag Optimisation
The Title Tag is currently one of the most important factors in achieving high search engine rankings. Optimising just the Title Tags of your pages can often generate quick and appreciable differences to your rankings. The Title Tag is also what appears in the clickable link on the search engine results page (SERP), so optimising them may result in more click throughs from the SERPs to your site.
2. Description Tag Optimisation
The keywords and phrases used in your Description Tag don’t affect your page’s ranking in the search engines (for the most part), but this tag is still very important in your overall SEO campaigns. The Description Tag is the small descriptive blurb under the Title Tag that tells searchers what the page is about in the search engine results pages. Searchers are more likely to click and visit a web page if it has an interesting and well written Description Tag, therefore increasing click through rates.
3. Keyword Tag Optimisation
The Keywords Tag used to be one of the most commonly used meta elements. However search engine providers (Google, Bing, etc) started to realise that information stored in the Keywords Tag was often unreliable and misleading, and at worst, dishonest webmasters could easily place false keywords into their tags in order to draw people to their website.
Today, most search engine algorithms have veered away from reliance on the Keywords Tag for web page relevance to a topic. However it is best practise to fill this tag in correctly with 3-6 keywords which are relevant to each specific web page.
5. LINK BUILDING
Good SEO has lots to do with how many other websites you have pointing to your site. Links to your site are like votes, telling Google and other search engines how good your site is, and how relevant it is to a particular subject. We research your industry and obtain authoritive, relevant and SEO friendly links to your site.
6. SEARCH STRATEGY
A Search Strategy is essential if you want to make the most of other marketing objectives and campaigns your business has. If you have an existing marketing calendar (or even if you don’t) we can align SEO and AdWords campaigns with your yearly schedule. For example; events, print campaign’s or product launches.
7. GOOGLE PLACES LISTING
Google is showing Google Places listings in many search engine optimisation results. This is an opportunity to gain a spot on the first page of search results (or another spot if you’re already up there).
We use a proven keyword methodology and SEO experience to optimise your Google Places listing.
